Intercultural Community

In 2015-16 we will teach 1,000 classes to over 1,500 PreK–5 students.

Teachers-in-training from the Brooklyn College Graduate Art Education program and three professors attended an inspirational workshop at The Clemente Center hosted by Susan Thomasson, MDD Education Director, and Mark DeGarmo, MDD Founder, Executive & Artistic Director. The students experienced inquiry-based dance education first-hand followed by an instructive discussion and screening of DeGarmo’s latest choreography, “Las Fridas,” performed by Susan Thomasson and Marie Baker-Lee.

    “Whoever You Are”

As part of The Clemente Center’s Open Studios 2015, on May 29 - 30 Mark DeGarmo performed a three-part series of his own choreography, “Whoever You Are.” The dance is comprised of three meditations on Walt Whitman, with music by singer/songwriter Chris Riffle and bassist Jimi Zhivago.
